World Youth Tournament

The world Junior Turnament has started in Turkey. I've added David Zhang's website to my blog list as he plans to update it regularily from Turkey. I was thinking of having a poll as to which Canadian will do best, but I figure there would only be about four votes anyway, so I'll just give my prediction. I think Richard Wang will have the best result in the under 12 division, followed by Eric Hansen in the under 18 division.

Yeah it was a good prediction wasn't it. I almost put in my prediction that R Wang would win a medal but then thought how hard that is to do so I played it safe.

Congrats on your result Eric. You managed to beat a GM and your two losses were against GM's so you shouldn't be too disappointed. Were there any norms?

yes on paper my result isn't bad it's just all the winning games I had. I ended up .5 shy in the end due to some unfortunate pairings (low rated opponents with high performances) . If I had converted any of the winning positions I had from rounds 7-9 I would of probably had it early .. but oh well. There were some other norms in my section since a lot of them are underrated.
In Edmonton I should be able to produce a really good result since I played so well in Turkey and my problems were easy to fix.
